Elegance' Nightingale, 2007

The Nightingale

'Elegance' Nightingale, 2007

Conway Stewart is a brand that is synonymous with British heritage and prestige, having been the recipient of various accolades and even chosen as the pen for the G8 Summit. Its list of owners includes the British royal family, prime ministers, and U.S. presidents both past and present. In addition to crafting pens for these esteemed individuals, Conway Stewart also creates exclusive writing instruments for prestigious accounts, including the Royal Air Force, the Red Arrows, Rolls Royce, 10 Downing Street, Mensa, the Westminster Collection, and many more.

In keeping with its rich heritage and traditions, Conway Stewart has launched its Elegance series to honour the pioneering nursing icon, Florence Nightingale. This will be the company's third edition launch from this series.

Florence Nightingale, born into a wealthy family, defied social expectations and became a nurse when it was not considered a suitable profession for well-educated women. She went on to become the superintendent of the Establishment for Gentlewomen at No. 1 Harley St., London, in 1853. Later, she was appointed by the Minister at War Sidney Herbert to oversee the introduction of female nurses into the military overseas hospitals. Her successful introduction of female nurses into the staffs of military hospitals was rewarded by a grateful nation. Upon her return home, she established the Nightingale Training School for nurses at St. Thomas' Hospital, which raised nursing to the level of a respectable profession for women.

The Nightingale pens are part of Conway Stewart's Elegance range, and they are designed in honour of this nursing icon. These petite pens are crafted with hallmarked solid sterling silver and have a highly detailed guilloche fox-head pattern engraved on the cap and body, a design inspired by Fabergé. Each pen is then skillfully covered with vibrant bonded enamel, making it available in three contemporary pastel shades: Cherry Blossom, Mauve, and Mint Green.

The Nightingale pens are available in both fountain pen and ball pen modes. The fountain pen is mounted with an 18-carat, solid gold, rhodium-plated nib. Each pen comes housed in a delightful Conway Stewart leather wallet, and this exquisite writing instrument shows all the characteristics necessary for becoming a modern design classic.

In summary, the Nightingale pens are a tribute to the life and achievements of Florence Nightingale. They are a testament to Conway Stewart's English craftsmanship and dedication to creating high-quality, elegant pens that honour notable figures from history.
